Cristiano Ronaldo wants Manchester United to name their price with a buyer ready and waiting.
The Portuguese star wants to quit Old Trafford after less than 12 months and has held showdown talks with his representatives and United officials, which included Sir Alex Ferguson, this week upon his return to Carrington. Ronaldo missed the club's pre-season tour and is now seeking a resolution to his future.
He wants out but so far United are standing firm on their stance that he is not for sale. The Sun is reporting however that his agent, Jorge Mendes, has informed them that he has a buyer but needs to know how much the club want before he can press forward with negotiations.
United have refused to offer up a figure and maintain that they expect Ronaldo to see out the remainder of his contract, which has 12 months to run. The club are in the midst of a rebuild having hired Erik ten Hag and want their No 7 to be part of it, as does the new coach.
So far though preparations for the new season have taken place without the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. Any potential buyer remains unclear with Mendes seeking out destinations for his client. At 37, and with huge wage demands, only certain clubs will consider a move.
Chelsea were among those to be initially linked with new owner Todd Boehly keen to make a statement signing. However Thomas Tuchel was not keen on the idea of Ronaldo heading to Stamford Bridge. Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have been touted as potential locations, but club chiefs for both outfits have distanced themselves from the deal.

A return to Sporting Lisbon has been discussed whilst Napoli could present Ronaldo with another stint in Serie A. United begin their season with a game against Brighton and Hove Albion, but are none the wiser as to whether or not Ronaldo will be available for selection or even at the club.
Ten Hag has continually been quizzed on the situation and said recently: "We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that's it. I'm looking forward to working with him. Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans and we want success together.
"He's not with us and it's due to personal issues. I spoke with him before this issue came up. I had a conversation with him and I had a good talk. That is between Cristiano and me. What I can confirm is we had a really good conversation together. I didn't speak to him after (the news)."
