Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly eyeing up the January transfer window as an opportunity to leave Manchester United – and a move would involve a logistical headache because of his gigantic car collection.
Ronaldo only re-joined United last summer from Juventus, but he spent much of the summer trying his best to find a new club due to his desire to play Champions League football. Despite his agent Jorge Mendes’ best efforts, the Portuguese superstar stayed put at Old Trafford when the window closed on September 1.
He is under contract with United until June 2023, but it seems he is not even willing to see out the current season under Erik ten Hag. Having lost his place to Marcus Rashford, the 37-year-old is already thinking ahead to the January transfer window, when he will renew his efforts to leave, according to The Sun.
Ronaldo was linked with a whole host of clubs over the summer, including Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Corinthians, Napoli and an unnamed side in Saudi Arabia. Whether he gets his transfer away from Manchester remains to be seen, but another move would have ramifications for his rather expensive car collection.
The United striker is paid around £500,000 per week by his current employers and has earned well over $1billion (£860m) over his career, according to Forbes. He has invested some of his remarkable wealth into a luxury car collection, which includes Bugattis, Ferraris, Royce-Royces and Aston Martins.
Back in June, Ronaldo splashed out around $10.5m on a limited edition Bugatti, of which there are only 10 in existence, according to Bild. The eye-catching Centodieci has an 8 litre W16 engine and a whopping 1600hp. It can do 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 236mph.
It joined two other supercars made by the manufacturer and is by far the most expensive of his huge collection. Ronaldo has 'CR7' embroidered on the headrests of his other two Bugattis – a Chiron and Veyron.
Understandably, Ronaldo tends to drive a different car day-to-day, preferring the comfort and opulence of a Bentley, a Range Rover or a Lamborghini 4x4 to drive into United’s Carrington training complex.
Keeping count of how many cars Ronaldo has owned over the years is a difficult task, but as a confessed car lover he has not been shy in documenting his hobby on his Instagram page, to his 477m followers.
Some of his other most impressive cars include a £1m McLaren Senna, a gigantic Mercedes G-Wagon Brabus and a Rolls-Royce Phantom.
