Cristiano Ronaldo greeted by Manchester United fans ahead of transfer

Cristiano Ronaldo trained with Portugal on Monday afternoon after completing his Manchester United medical - and was greeted by young United fans.

It was announced on Friday that United had struck a €23million deal with Juventus for Ronaldo's sensational homecoming and the 36-year-old has since undergone his medical in Lisbon before meeting up with Portugal's national side for training.

While it's currently the international break - Ronaldo is set to play in Portugal's games against World Cup Qualifiers against Ireland and Azerbaijan - United are expected to make the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's transfer from Juventus official before Tuesday's deadline.

That means Ronaldo could make his second debut for United against Newcastle on Saturday, September 11.

How many goals will Ronaldo score this season? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Ronaldo was training at Portugal's training camp in Oeiras on the outskirts of Lisbon and he linked up with Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes commented 'Agent Bruno?' on United's announcement of their agreement to resign Ronaldo on social media last week and the Portuguese pair are known to be close friends - both signed for United from Primera Liga side Sporting Lisbon, too.

Before the superstar arrived at training however, Ronaldo was seen posing for pictures in his car alongside a young United fan as he prepares to complete his transfer back to Old Trafford.

United will confirm the transfer on Tuesday before the deadline passes at midnight after he underwent a medical over the weekend and signed a two-year deal with the option of a third season to bring him back to the Premier League after 12 years away.
