Cristiano Ronaldo’s scoring feats continue to amaze after he made his return to Manchester United this year.
The Portuguese superstar has underlined his position as one of football’s all-time greats with his record, having broken the 800 mark in his career this season at Old Trafford.
The 36-year-old will head into the festive period as United’s top scorer so far in the 2021/22 campaign, with 13 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions since making his return to the club.
But it’s not just at United where Ronaldo will end the year holding a club record.
Despite leaving Juventus during the summer, he will finish 2021 as the Italian giants’ top scorer in the calendar year.
Ronaldo scored 20 times for Juve during the year, with his last goal for the club coming all the way back in May, and no-one in Turin has managed to equal his efforts since his departure.
The stat will no doubt bring a grin to the face of Ronaldo, who has been criticised by his former Juventus team-mates since departing the club, with Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini turning on him in recent months.
Since the five-time Ballon d’Or winner left Italy, Juve have continued to struggle despite Massimiliano Allegri’s return as coach, with the club sitting 12 points behind leaders Inter Milan after 19 games, and having scored fewer goals than half of the rest of the teams in Serie A.
Coincidentally, Ronaldo’s great rival Lionel Messi also shares a similar record, with the Argentine ending the year as Barcelona’s top scorer in 2021, despite leaving the Camp Nou in June.
Unlike Ronaldo, Messi has struggled to adapt to life with new club PSG, having scored just one Ligue 1 goal so far this season, although has does have five goals in the Champions League for the French giants.
