Cristiano Ronaldo gesture to Mikel Arteta after Manchester United penalty appeal vs Arsenal

Footage has emerged of Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in discussion with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after United had a penalty claim turned down at the Emirates on Saturday.

The incident came moments before the Gunners were awarded a penalty of their own after Alex Telles was adjudged to have fouled Bukayo Saka. After consultation with VAR, Craig Pawson pointed to the spot.

Earlier in the passage of play, United were pushing down the left-hand side through Jadon Sancho. The England international's trickery left Cedric Soares scrambling and the ball struck the hand of the former Southampton man but nothing came of it.

In footage released by Arsenal's Bench Cam, Ronaldo can be seen speaking to Arteta, pointing and appearing to suggest that a handball had been committed. United were beaten 3-1 after Granit Xhaka confirmed the three points following goals from Nuno Tavares and Saka.

Ronaldo did offer an avenue back into the clash after firing in his 100th Premier League goal 10 minutes before half-time. He was denied his 101st by the fine lines of VAR later in the game.
