Cristiano Ronaldo forced off with injury for Portugal against Serbia

Juventus will be sweating on the fitness of star man Cristiano Ronaldo after he limped off in the first half of Portugal's clash with Serbia.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar recently fired the Turin side into the Champions League quarter-finals with his heroic last-16 hat-trick.

But he could now be a major doubt for their clash with Ajax after pulling up with a hamstring injury in Portugal's European qualifier.

Ronaldo was sprinting down the sideline for a ball after just 28 minutes when he pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury and clutched the back of his leg.

He immediately pointed to his hamstring and went down to the ground on the side of the pitch, taking off his captain's armband and signalling to the bench for a replacement.

He limped off with the muscle problem which will no doubt cause plenty of concern with just 16 days until the first leg of Juventus's clash with Ajax in Turin.

The second leg takes place in 21 days time and there is no doubt the Italian giants will be severely concerned about the fitness of their star man.

Ronaldo has not suffered any muscle injuries since the 2015/16 season, making his latest injury blow a massive concern.

He was replaced by Benfica midfielder Pizzi.

Portugal trailed 1-0 at the time of Ronaldo's injury after an early Dusan Tadic penalty, but Danilo Pereira equalised on the stroke of half-time to ensure the sides went in level at the break.
