Cristiano Ronaldo believes the Manchester United squad will need time to adapt to one another this season.
The Portuguese talisman completed a sensational return to the club during the final days of the transfer market, heading back to Old Trafford having days earlier been linked to Manchester City.
Ronaldo has picked up exactly where he left off - from scoring a brace on his second debut and popping up with crucial late winners.
However, the Manchester United team of 2021 is certainly much different to the team of 2009, and he acknowledges this.
Ronaldo has admitted that the club are still in a period of "adaptation" and called for "sacrifice" from his team-mates as they look to put a tricky run of results - and performances - behind them.
"We are in a moment in my opinion that Manchester (United) do a few changes; they buy me, they buy (Raphael) Varane and (Jadon) Sancho," he told Sky Sports.
"The adaptation will take time, even the system of the game that we play, but I think step by step we have to put it in our mind that everything is possible.
"I don't speak only about my individual stuff, I put the collective in first place. To win things as a collective, it's more easy to win individual stuff, I still think it's possible.
"Everyone should know their role."
Ronaldo stated that his experience, as well as goals, can kickstart an upturn in domestic fortunes as he explained his role in the team this season.
I know my role in the team, in the club… my role is to score goals, to help the team with my experience and know-how to understand the game.
"If everyone is thinking like that, sacrifice for the team, I think we will be a better team. We have fantastic supporters behind us, fantastic stadium, fantastic team, so we have to carry on like that."
Ronaldo and Man Utd will hope to turn their Premier League form around this Sunday when Liverpool come to Old Trafford.
