Cristiano Ronaldo has provided some critical comments on his Portugal team-mate Bruno Fernandes after a summer of speculation has yet to result in a transfer move.
Fernandes took his game to another level last season as he bagged 20 goals in the Primeira Liga for Sporting Lisbon.
This form has resulted in interest from around Europe, with Manchester United and Tottenham reportedly battling for his signature for much of the summer.
Tottenham had talks with Fernandes, while United were also heavily linked but did not make an official approach for the attacking midfielder.
It's now said that Real Madrid could sign the 24-year-old before the Spanish transfer deadline closes but Ronaldo is frustrated that a deal hasn't already been struck, with the Juventus star insisting that Fernandes must move sooner rather than later to further his career.
"In the national team you have Cancelo, Bruno Fernandes, who nobody knows why he doesn't leave," Ronaldo told TVI.
"In the national team, you have a lot of talent, so I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Possibly this new generation will be the best at the talent level, but that's not enough.
"They have to want to. I have spoken to him. Positive, I'm a captain who wants to help and be helped."
Ronaldo, meanwhile, has hailed the success of the Portuguese national team after adding the UEFA Nations League title to their European Championship success in 2016.
"The atmosphere in the national team is spectacular. The last few years have been the most enjoyable," Ronaldo added. "The most responsible for this is Fernando Santos and the president of the FPF."
