Cristiano Ronaldo car: Did the footballer just buy an $18.9 million Bugatti La Voiture Noire?

Cristiano Ronaldo holds a lot of records. He’s the top international goalscorer for Portugal, he has scored the most goals overall for Real Madrid and he's the most followed man on Instagram. Now he might have just purchased the most expensive new car of all time.

Bugatti built the world’s most expensive car, La Voiture Noire (French for “The Black Car”), in celebration of the car manufacturer’s 110th birthday. The company put it on the market for 11 million euros ($12 million) and sold it for $18.9 million after taxes and fees. According to Spanish sports news outlet AS, Cristiano Ronaldo is now the lucky owner.

Ronaldo is a longtime fan of Bugatti, having owned and posted Instagram videos of cars from the manufacturer in the past. Bugatti based its La Voiture Noire off of its $3 million Chiron model, which Ronaldo has owned himself. He also earned an estimated $130 million last year, making the cost of La Voiture Noire 14.5% of his salary.

Despite the reports, the Bugatti buyer is still unconfirmed. Tim Bravo, a spokesman for Bugatti, wouldn’t reveal who the buyer was, according to Fox News.

The jury’s still out on this one, but if Ronaldo is the buyer, we're sure to see an Instagram video of him driving his automotive masterpiece sometime soon.
