When you're 1-0 down in the last minute of the game and you're handed a glorious opportunity to equalise, be it a free-kick, penalty or just a loose ball in the box, you want the chance to present itself to your best player.
'Clutch' players have always been a huge part of any sport. Tom Brady in the NFL and Michael Jordan in the NBA - if you need to win you look to these players to pick the team up and carry them through.
In football, a player you would put in that bracket is Cristiano Ronaldo, and since he sealed his return to Manchester United there have been a number of instances where this has been the case, mainly in the Champions League against the likes of Atalanta and Villarreal.
The aura that he has created, however, also seems to have excused him from being substituted despite a number of poor performances.
Against Wolves on Monday night, that chance to score a late goal presented itself to United. Phil Jones was fouled just outside the box and United were given a free-kick, needing a goal to salvage a point from a poor performance.
Both Bruno Fernandes and Ronaldo stood over the free-kick and most United fans would have bet their house on Ronaldo taking it.
But the unthinkable happened. Fernandes, who had come on as a substitute after being dropped to the bench, demanded the free-kick from his countryman and took it himself.

Unfortunately, his effort was well saved by Jose Sa, but in a game where Ronaldo was made captain and would have most likely been able to pull rank over the midfielder, it was strange that he gave way to Fernandes.
Maybe it was due to his poor record of scoring free-kicks both at United and Juventus, or maybe it was the turning point at United that will see Fernandes regain his position as the team's talisman.
Until the Portuguese midfielder entered the game, United didn't look like scoring and they were incredibly wasteful in possession. As soon as Fernandes came on, however, he was unfortunate not to score, hitting the bar from Nemanja Matic's pass and he would have had an assist from a set-piece if Ronaldo had stayed onside.
Before Ronaldo rejoined United, it was the Fernandes show, but it is clear he has been more reserved since his international colleague returned.
Given the criticism that's been aimed at Fernandes in recent weeks, it took a lot of character for him to step up in the final minute and demand the ball from Ronaldo. Fernandes may have failed to score from the free-kick but it's clear United have a player willing to stick their neck on the line when the team is in need of a saviour.
