Cristiano Ronaldo all time goal claim questioned as Czech FA discover more Josef Bican strikes

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has NOT broken the all-time goalscoring record - at least according to the Czech FA.

It's been widely reported that the striker has taken Josef Bican's long-standing record for finding the back of the net in official competitions.

Ronaldo scored his 760th goal for club or country as he helped Juventus lift the Italian Super Cup with a 2-0 win over Napoli.

It was his 85th Juve goal, added to five for Sporting, 118 for Manchester United, 450 for Real Madrid and 102 for Portugal.

That was believed to have put him ahead of Bican, who hit 759 in all competitions.

However, the Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation credits the Czech-Austrian forward with 805 though that includes some non-official internationals and reserve games for Rapid Vienna.

And now the History and Statistics committee of the Czech FA has weighed in, insisting that Bican actually scored 821 official goals - leaving him well clear of Ronaldo.

Head of the committee Jaroslav Kolar noted that from the 805 total, goals scored in the Czech second division for Hradec Kralove are missing.

They've counted those up and reached a total of 53 in 26 games.

The Czechs also removed some goals that they deemed unofficial, however, concluding that Bican has 821.

By their numbers Ronaldo must therefore score another 42 to crack the record - though you wouldn't bet against it.
