Cristian Romero set to make Atalanta decision as Cameron Carter-Vickers attracts Celtic interest

Here is your Tottenham morning digest for Monday, August 2.

Cristian Romero to tell Atalanta hierarchy he wants Spurs

Spurs target Cristian Romero has described his proposed move to north London as an 'opportunity he can't miss' as he plans to tell the Atalanta hierarchy and manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, that he wants to join Tottenham.

The 23-year-old centre-half, who was formally recognised as 2020/21 Serie A's best defender, sees the move as his priority, but the Italian club are yet to accept Tottenham's improved bid according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Romano claims that Atalanta are looking for a guaranteed fee of around €50 million (£43million) from Fabio Paratici, a fee of which Spurs have since reportedly submitted and had accepted.

Youngster edges closer to Celtic

Spurs have told Celtic that they will not be entertaining any proposed loan offer for the services of centre-back Cameron Carter Vickers, report the Daily Record.

The United States of America international, who has made just four senior appearances in the white strip upon graduating from the Spurs academy, reportedly wants to leave north London on a permanent basis.

The 23-year-old defender has enjoyed various loan spells at the likes of Sheffield United, Ipswich, Swansea, Stoke City, Luton Town and more recently Bournemouth, where he featured in the Cherries' bid to battle through the Championship play-offs.

Kane to City dependant on Grealish stance

Tottenham look to have evaded the wrath of Manchester City's transfer window war chest this summer as the arrival of Jack Grealish to Manchester City would call off Pep Guardiola's pursuit of the Spurs captain, report the Manchester Evening News.

The Premier League champions submitted a £100million bid for Grealish on Friday, which would make the Villa captain the most expensive Premier League player of all time.

With City close to somewhat signing the 25-year-old playmaker, Daniel Levy can take a sigh of relief and prize Nuno Espirito Santo with the club's biggest achievement of the summer - the retention of Kane.

However, should Grealish decide to stay at Villa Park and lead Dean Smith's newly-formed frightening strike force, City could switch their attention to the Spurs number ten and leave Fabio Paratici frantically scouring the market for a striker.
