Crisps recalled over allergy fears

Customers have been urged to take care if they have any allergies with one brand of crisps.

Booker, the wholesalers, have recalled the Jack’s Mature Cheddar and Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps after finding out they had been made with milk which was undeclared on the packaging’s ingredients list.

That means the crisps are a danger to those with milk allergies and should not be eaten.

Instead, people should return the product to where they bought it from for a full refund.

A statement says: “Booker is recalling Jack’s Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

“This product contains milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”

Booker has recalled the product and said it has also taken action to make sure it does not happen again.

The wholesaler says it has contacted the “relevant allergy support organisations” to make sure those with allergies will be warned from that side too.

The company has released a notice here, urging customers to take care.

It adds: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
