A CHARITY that helps those at their lowest ebb will throw out its own lifeline for book lovers this long weekend.
Crisis support charity Lifeline will put 20,000 pre-loved books out for sale in the hopes to raise thousands.
Executive director Rob Sams said the fundraiser helped Lifeline provide suicide prevention and crisis services.
"We hope to raise $30,000 from this year's event, which will support the cost of training new telephone crisis supporters as well as fund our local face-to-face counselling service," he said.
"Generally the biggest section of books is adult fiction, but this year we also have a separate space specifically for children's books which will all be preiced at $1."
The fair runs behind the Lifeline shop on Clyde Street, Hamilton North 9am-4pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday and Monday.
