Footage from Dan’s father captured the awkward moment Dan’s mother ruined his proposal

That’s exactly what happened to TikToker Dan (@catdaddan) when he decided take the big next step to pop the question to his girlfriend.

To make matters worse, the cringe-worthy incident was captured on video by Dan’s father where the couple could be seen posing for a photo behind a low wall with countryside views in the background.
Just when Dan was about get down on one knee to ask the all important question to his girlfriend, out of the blue his mother yelled: “Danny no, no, no!” as the clip abruptly cuts off.
In the TikTok caption, Dan provided some more detail and wrote: “My dad didn’t know what to do, so he just kept recording.”
Even dad felt the second-hand embarrassment...
Since posting this painfully uncomfortable footage, the TikTok has been viewed 9.4m times with over 530,000 likes.
Thousands of people also didn’t hold back when they commented on the video, telling Dan they didn’t like him pacifying his demanding mother.
One person wrote: “She [girlfriend] got lucky then. Who wants to marry someone that lets mom pick out their wife?”
“Lucky girl [girlfriend]. She dodged a controlling mother-in-law and a husband with no backbone,” another person said.
Someone else added: “On another episode of mother’s in love with their sons.”
“So you just let your momma decide who you’re gonna be with?” A fourth person asked.
In a follow-up TikTok, Dan provided more detail about the incident and said he didn’t try to propose in that moment “for obvious reasons.”

He revealed that he and his girlfriend (now fiancée) eventually got engaged and “to commemorate the moment” the engaged couple went back to take some celebratory photos on the very wall where is mother stopped the original proposal.
At least this story eventually got a happy ending... let’s just hope the wedding is less awkward.
