Criminals are trying to trick their way into homes by pretending to be coronavirus testers

Criminals are trying to take advantage of vulnerable people by posing as door to door 'coronavirus testers'.

Police have issued a warning, after reports that individuals have tried to unscrupulously gain access to homes, by pretending to offer tests for Covid-19.

They have stressed that this is a scam, and no one genuine is offering tests by cold calling at homes.

Sharing warnings on social media, GMP's city centre division wrote: "Sadly, there are reports online that individuals may be taking advantage of the vulnerable, by posing as door-to-door Covid-19 testers in order to gain access to your home.

"Please advise your friends, relatives & neighbours that nobody is conducting ‘cold call’ testing".

While officers in Sale warned: "Other Police districts are reporting that individuals may be taking advantage of the vulnerable by posing as door to door Covid-19 testers in order to gain access to properties.

"Please advise your friends and relatives that NOBODY is currently conducting ‘cold call’ testing".
