'Criminal' - Wales fans fume as Brennan Johnson taken off before £25m Leeds United star

Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson impressed Wales fans this afternoon and they were left angry when he was substituted in their win in Belarus.

The 20-year-old was taken off in the 63rd minute with Wales 2-1 down, and he was seemingly his side's most likely goal threat at that stage in the game.

Wales went on to equalise via a Gareth Bale penalty six minutes later and Bales struck in stoppage time to win it, but Wales fans said it was "criminal" that the Forest youngster didn't play the rest of the game.

There did not appear to be any signs of an injury as Johnson left the field, suggesting it was a tactical decision by Wales manager Robert Page.

Here is how some Wales fans reacted to the news on social media this afternoon before the comeback:

Ned Thomas : Hopefully I'll be proved wrong, but Brennan Johnson and Rubin Colwill have been two of our better players in the second half - especially Johnson, who is a goal threat. No idea what made Page replace both of them this early

Chris Saunders : In dire need of a goal and Rob page takes off Brennan Johnson, a forward and one of the few who have actually played well, and brings on Jonny Williams who has scored 6 in over 200 games.

Kieran : Our one bright spark Brennan Johnson taken off, another Page masterclass

Benjamin Lintern : 2-1 down and we take Brennan Johnson, arguably our liveliest player, off. Yes Johnny should come on but risk it with Morrell or Allen coming off

@CPL_TnT : It's criminal how badly wasted Brennan Johnson's talents were today.

@_11ha17 : Brennan Johnson. Save the name. Well done young man.

Robert Moore : Brennan Johnson off before Dan James?

@LlionRhys2 : Brennan Johnson looks like a real prospect! Such a threat on the ball!
