Criminal proceedings dropped against man cleared of attempting to murder housemates

Criminal proceedings against a man who was accused of threatening to kill his housemates have ended after the prosecution offered no evidence.

Masoud Khalifa, 28, was found not guilty by a jury of three counts of attempted murder and three counts of making threats to kill following a trial at Cardiff Crown Court in July.

He was also found not guilty of wounding, wounding with intent to cause really serious injury, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The jury were unable to reach verdicts on counts of wounding and wounding with intent but the charges were asked to lie on file by the prosecution at a hearing at Newport Crown Court on Monday.

Mr Khalifa, of Marlborough Road, Roath, Cardiff, denied the charges, which were alleged to have taken place on July 30, 2019, at the property he shared with complainants Gulam Wakil, Fardin Ahmadi, and Omid Shayesteh.

All proceedings against Mr Khalifa have now been concluded.
