Criminal Investigation Launched Into Boeing Over Recent Airplane Incidents

The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into Boeing following a series of alarming incidents involving their aircraft. The probe stems from a door blowing out on an Alaska Airlines flight in January, prompting concerns over compliance with previous settlements related to fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.

Recently, United Airlines experienced multiple frightening events involving Boeing jets. One incident saw an engine catching fire on a flight from Houston to Fort Myers, causing panic among passengers. Fortunately, the plane landed safely back in Houston, with no injuries reported. The engine fire was attributed to a piece of bubble wrap being sucked into the engine.

In another incident, a tire fell off a Boeing 777 shortly after takeoff from San Francisco. The plane made an emergency landing in Los Angeles, with the tire landing in an employee parking lot, damaging vehicles but causing no injuries.

Additionally, a United flight from Memphis slid off the runway in Houston, resulting in the evacuation of 160 passengers and six crew members. Despite the dramatic scenes, no injuries were reported in this incident.

Both United Airlines and Boeing are cooperating with federal investigations into these events. Boeing is also facing scrutiny over a separate investigation involving a 737 Max after United pilots reported flight control issues during a landing in Newark.
