Police are keeping an open mind as to whether a cash box robbery at a Liverpool supermarket is linked to two other similar incidents earlier this month.
Two masked men stole a cash box from a security guard at the Garston Asda at around 7am on Friday , October 23.
The offenders made off in a black Audi A3 which was found abandoned a short time later on Island Road. The empty cash box was found in Melbreck Road, Allerton.
Senior officers are now keeping an 'open mind' as to whether this incident is linked to similar incidents in Kirkby and Belle Vale earlier this month.
At around 4.14pm on October 18 a masked man snatched a cash box from a worker outside Food for Thought on Glovers Brow in Kirkby.
The masked man, was white, around 5ft 8in tall, of slim build, and around 25 - 30 years old. He was driven from the scene in a black BMW.
On the morning of October 8 a man armed with a knife stole a cash box from a security guard in Morrisons near Belle Vale Shopping Centre. The guard was not injured.
Following the robbery, two men made off in a black Volvo V40 which was abandoned in Peckmill Green.
As the police car raced to the scene it was involved in a crash with a BMW on Childwall Valley Road.
Three police officers in the car were taken to hospital as a precaution but injuries are not thought to be serious. The driver of the BMW was not thought to have been hurt.
Police have now appealed for information about the latest robbery on Friday.
Detective Inspector Sean Kelly-Martland said to the ECHO: “We’re keen to speak with anyone who saw this incident, saw or captured the vehicle in question making off, or anyone acting suspiciously in the Allerton area a short time later.

“The guard was not injured but obviously shocked to be targeted in such a way, and we’re determined to find those responsible and put them before the courts.
"We work closely with security companies and businesses, and there are many measures to deter would-be offenders, as well as previous successes we have had in court.
"These recent incidents are no different. We continue to investigate a similar incident in Belle Vale earlier this month and are keeping an open mind as to whether these are linked.
