Criminal Assets Bureau seize a number of assets as part of investigation into ATM thefts

A large amount of assets have been seized as part of an investigation into ATM robberies.

Ten locations across Meath, Cavan and Monaghan were searched by the Criminal Assets Bureau, including four residential properties, two yards with sheds and four professional premises, including a solicitors and an estate agents.

During the searches, CAB seized a vehicle, a laptop, financial documentation, illicit cigarettes and documentation in relation to the ownership of assets.

A working fuel laundering plant was also discovered during the search.

In a statement, gardai said: "This morning’s operation marks a significant development in the CAB operation which has been shadowing the criminal investigation being conducted by local Gardaí supported by national units and follows on from a number of significant seizures of cash and other property by the Gardaí over the past number of weeks.

"The CAB investigation relates to cash, vehicles, other assets and real estate property that may represent the proceeds of crime."
