Criminal Assets Bureau seize 11 high-end cars in operation targeting east European crime group

The Criminal Assets Bureau has seized 11 high-end vehicles after a search at a Tipperary motor dealership.

The investigation follows on from a related operation on September 6, which saw seven cars seized from a premises in Dublin 15.

CAB said that 24 officers were involved in the search on Monday, which led to the discovery of five Audi Q7s, two Range Rovers, two BMW X5s, an Audi A4 and a VW Passat.

€11,000 in cash was also seized.

Thursday's operation was carried out as part of an ongoing money laundering and proceeds of crime investigation targeting assets linked to a significant East European Organised Crime Group.

A garda spokesman said: "As part of an ongoing money laundering and proceeds of crime investigation the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) conducted a search of a motor dealership in County Tipperary on the morning of Thursday, 21st October, 2021.

"This operation is linked to a recent CAB search operation conducted at a motor dealership in Dublin 15 on Monday, 6th September, 2021, during the course of which seven high value vehicles were seized and the subsequent seizure of a Jaguar I Pace vehicle valued at €80,000 on Tuesday, 28th September, 2021.

"Today's search operation involved the search of a Tipperary motor dealership by 24 Bureau Officers. 11 vehicles in total were seized and removed from the search site, four of which were detained for customs/VRT offences."
