Criminal Assets Bureau operation sees cash, cars and documents seized in Dublin

Cash, cars and documents were seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) today as 14 premises were searched as part of a big operation.

A sports club, motor dealership and dental practices were among the places raided in the Dublin op, where CAB was assisted by the Emergency Response Unit and the Customs Dog Unit.

Cash in the amount of €13,200, BMW and Ford vehicles and records relating to "a number of significant property transactions" were all seized, gardai said.

Some €35,921 was also frozen in a bank account.

Gardai said today’s operation "targeted an Organised Crime Group (OCG) involved in drug trafficking".

They added: "Along with targeting assets linked to the OCG, the operation also targeted the outlets employed by the OCG believed to be involved in laundering the proceeds of crime.

"Today’s operation marks a significant development in the on-going proceeds of crime investigation."
