Crieff teenager attacked partner while armed with a knife, Perth Sheriff Court hears

A Crieff teenager who attacked his partner while armed with a knife was given the chance to complete unpaid work when he appeared at Perth Sheriff Court this week.

The 17-year-old, who can’t be named because of his age, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of community work within six months.

He will also be supervised by a social worker for nine months.

He admitted that on September 23, 2018, at a house in the city’s Newhouse Road, he assaulted his girlfriend whilst in possession of the blade, repeatedly pushed her on the body and repeatedly seized her by the body.

A not guilty plea was accepted to a second charge of shouting and swearing at the female, punching a wall, stabbing a door with a knife, brandishing the weapon and making violent threats.

The accused had previously been put on the Right Track scheme, set up to steer youngsters away from a life of crime.

Solicitor Paul Ralph told the court he had completed 102 hours of unpaid work.

He had also secured full-time employment and had stayed out of trouble.

The wayward teen had previously been working as a volunteer in Crieff.

Imposing the community payback order, Sheriff Gillian Wade told the teenager: “These are very serious offences.

“However, there are positives identified in the background report and you are addressing the concerns the court obviously had.”
