Cricket World Cup 2019 venue guide: All the grounds to be used during summer tournament

The biggest tournament in global cricket arrives on these shores this summer when the 2019 Cricket World Cup takes place in England and Wales.

This will be the fifth time that the tournament has been played in England, but the first since 1999. Prior to that, the first three editions of the competition were all held on English soil, in 1975, 1979 and 1983.

The 48-game tournament will run from England’s opener against South Africa on May 30 through to the final on July 14.

In all, there will be 48 games played across 11 grounds, ten of which are in England, the 11th being Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

London is the only city boasting more than one venue, with The Oval, home to Surrey, and Lord’s, where the final will be played, both set to host five games each.

Birmingham’s Edgbaston, Nottingham’s Trent Bridge and Southampton’s Rose Bowl will all also hold five matches, but it’s Manchester’s Old Trafford that will be the most used venue, welcoming six games.

Taunton’s County Ground is the smallest venue, with a capacity of around 12,500, and is one of two venues in the south west, along with Bristol.

Durham’s Riverside Ground is the furthest north, with Yorkshire’s home at Headingley completing the line-up.
