Cricket World Cup 2019 LIVE: West Indies thrash Pakistan as Chris Gayle becomes highest six-scorer in history

Re-live all the action live from the Cricket World Cup as the West Indies thrashed Pakistan  in match two at Trent Bridge.

England got the tournament off to a flying start on Thursday – literally in the case of Ben Stokes’ acrobatic catch – as the hosts defeated South Africa, butFriday's encounter failed to live up to its billing as Pakistan slumped to a dismal 11th straight ODI defeat..

Andre Russell, Jason Holder and Oshane Thomas ripped through the Pakistan batting order, with Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam top-scoring with just 22 runs each as they posted 105 all-out, before Chris Gayle's half-century led the West Indies to an easy victory after losing only three wickets in 13.4 overs. Follow the live updates below.

Welcome to The Independent's live coverage of today's Cricket World Cup action as the West Indies face Pakistan in match two at Trent Bridge.

Fakhar with a love drive that ignites the crowd, collecting three.

WICKET!

Cottrell continues his fine spell, with Iman edging behind for the first wicket of the day.

Imam simply did not get enough as he looked to help the bal down leg.

Babar is in as his replacement.

Fakhar really motoring already here.

A lovely punch into the off side, helping himself to three.

Babar again going after the Windies attack, this time on the leg side for four!

DROPPED!

Hetmyer  puts down Babar, who cuts Brathwaite's delivery down the off side. It's down to his left and it should have been taken.

WICKET! WICKET! WICKET!

Holder gets Sharfaraz to tickle one behind and after the help of Ultra Edge, Pakistan are in all sorts of bother.

Imad is in the middle but doesn't last long, Holder forces him to glove one back, with Gayle grasping it well.
