ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 news LIVE: Latest team updates as showpiece gets under way

The 2019 Cricket World Cup finally gets underway this morning when England take on South Africa at The Oval.

The hosts England come into the tournament as the number one ranked ODI side in the world, and favourites to lift the trophy for the very first time.

Eoin Morgan said on Wednesday that he had decided on his team, having himself recovered from a tiny finger fracture picked up in training last week and with spinner Adil Rashid fit after a shoulder niggle.

South Africa are also seeking a first ever World Cup win, and though moderate expectations should mean the pressure is off, they are still trying to shake the tag of perennial tournament chokers.

Fast bowler Dale Steyn is out with a shoulder injury, but the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir will still give the England batsmen plenty to fear, while in Quinton De Kock they have one of the best batsmen at the tournament.
