The 2019 Cricket World Cup is officially launched today with an opening party in front of Buckingham Palace on The Mall.
Details of the event have been kept under wraps, but organisers have promised ‘a night to remember’ with some ‘famous faces to help get the party started’.
The tournament itself gets underway on Thursday, when the favourites and hosts England take on South Africa at The Oval.
Eoin Morgan’s side come into the tournament as the number one ranked ODI side in the world, and looking for a first ever World Cup triumph.
In all, eleven different venues will host matches during the tournament, which begins with a round robin phase of all ten teams playing each other once, before the top four advance to the semi-finals in early July.
Standard Sport will be bringing you LIVE coverage of this afternoon’s opening party, followed by all the action throughout the tournament, starting with England’s opener, tomorrow.
