Weather forecast for Sri Lanka vs Australia cricket world cup match at The Oval

There's good news for fans heading to London's Oval for the Cricket World Cup as the sun is set to shine for most of the day.

Supporters who plan to trek to the capital on Saturday for a clash between Sri Lanka vs Australia should be able to watch a lot of play before the rain arrives.

Experts are predicting a sunny morning with clouds moving in around lunchtime.

Things take a turn for the worst around 4pm when heavy rain is expected.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Dry at first with some sunny spells. Cloud and scattered showers will spread from the west during the morning, reaching all areas during the afternoon. Drier and brighter by evening. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

"Sunday breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers, some heavy. Monday breezy with sunny spells and, mainly dry. Tuesday dry with lighter winds, some sunny spells, and feeling warm."

The Mirror has reported a potential mini-heatwave could be upon us next week, with conditions improving dramatically next week as temperatures soar to 21C and above on Monday and continue to stay in the 20s throughout the week.

There will be sunshine across the country on Monday, while Tuesday will see highs of 23C, with generally cloudy weather in England and some sun in Scotland.

Wednesday looks set to be a scorcher as the mercury hits 25C in some places, with sunny weather likely.

But this weekend is expected to be wet.

A spokesman for netweather.tv said: "Overall for the weekend, it’s a mixture of hefty showers, even thundery ones with bright spells.

"The winds will be from the south-east, south or south-west and temperatures in the brighter areas, mainly in the east, into the high teens. Low to mid-20s by next week as pressure tries to build."
