In a country so famously in love with cricket, just how popular can football be? Last month, the first season of the Indian Super League (ISL) kicked off (no pun intended - ok, pun intended), which consists of eight city-based teams. Founded to make football a top sport in the country, the ISL is attracting a large - and growing - crowd of fans. Our colleagues at GuardianWitness did a callout for experiences of football in India, and saw some fantastic responses - including the story of the Reality Gives football programme in Mumbai’s Dharavi district.
On Sunday, the Guardian Cities team went to an ISL game - Mumbai City v Chennai - which was packed with people, popcorn and energy. We also asked attendees whether the ISL is making football more popular with women especially - but more on that on the live blog later. So what we’d like to hear from Mumbaikars is: do you prefer cricket or football? And why?
