Crichton's Roosters deal finally complete

Angus Crichton's two-year deal at the Sydney Roosters is finally official after the NRL club confirmed he would stay on until the end of 2024.

After months of speculation about his future and fears of a salary cap squeeze, Crichton put pen to paper with the Roosters in August.

However, minor tweaks to the cap meant the deal had not yet been registered, before now finally being rubber-stamped for next season.

The approval of the Kangaroos World Cup second-rower's contract came as the Roosters also confirmed Jake Turpin and Jaxson Paulo would join the club.

"I've made no secret of the love I have for the Sydney Roosters," Crichton said in a statement.

"This is my home and I'm really excited to have re-committed to the club for the next two years.

"I know I have so much more to give and that my best football is in front of me, and I'm looking forward to continuing to play my role for this great club."

Since joining the Roosters from Souths in 2018, Crichton has continually been linked to interest from rivals and rugby union.

However, he forms a crucial part of the Roosters' pack, as a strike weapon on the edge as well as possessing the flexibility of playing in the middle.

Meanwhile, Paulo's move comes after signing a two-year deal with the Roosters from arch-rivals Souths.

The Rabbitohs' starting centre to begin 2022, Paulo endured a tough end to the season on the wing and was not sighted again during the finals.

Turpin's arrival also comes after his exit from Brisbane, where he jostled with Billy Walters and Cory Paix for the dummy-half role.

He will provide cover in that position at the Roosters after Sam Verrills' exit, with Brandon Smith to start at No.9 next year Turpin and Drew Hutchinson the back-up and bench options.

Elsewhere, Gold Coast prop Sam Lisone has been released from the final year of his Titans deal to move to Leeds in the English Super League.

Lisone's partner Georgia Hale also plays for the Titans in the NRLW, leading to speculation the Kiwi Ferns vice-captain could also head to the Rhinos as a package deal.
