As tales of snow-related chaos continue around the UK, teachers in Scotland have found a way for pupils to take part in lessons without having to leave home.

Glow is an intranet system which lets teachers share lessons with pupils online. Rather than being hampered by the snow, some teachers in Scotland are actually weaving it into their lessons, setting tasks for pupils such as drawing the scene from their window, or sending in weather reports.

Pupils are being encouarged to use the system, but the lessons are not compulsory. So still plenty of time to throw snowballs and go sledging ...

If you are stuck indoors and want a bit of Christmas creativity, try today's project from Red Ted Art. Cotton bud snowflakes are just the latest in a host of creations. Try Swedish paper hearts, a sweetie holder Santa and angel clothes pegs too.
