Crews to monitor Derwent Valley spot fires being fanned by strong winds

Fire crews will stay on a remote bush property in Tasmania's Derwent Valley overnight to battle small blazes arising from a house fire.

Investigations are continuing into the fire, which destroyed a Mount Lloyd property, about 10 kilometres from New Norfolk.

A house and shed burnt down in the blaze, and the damage bill is unknown.

Vehicles, quad bikes and a shipping container were also damaged.

The occupants managed to escape the fire unscathed.

About 20 firefighters began fighting the blaze at 11:00am on Sunday, which was made difficult by the property's remoteness.

Access to water was an issue, and it took nine trucks, including five heavy tankers, to fight the blaze.

High winds hampered efforts to extinguish small pockets of bushfires.

Crews will remain at the site overnight to monitor it and continue putting out fires.
