Crews rush to Trafford Centre after bus catches on fire

Firefighters rushed to the Trafford Centre after a bus caught on fire near the shopping mall.

Crews from Stretford and Eccles fire station spent just under 30 minutes tackling the blaze coming from the bus that caught on fire on a dual carriageway on Park Way.

Greater Manchester Police were also at the scene, firefighters were called at 4:52pm and left at 5:19pm.

No injuries have been reported by the fire service.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire Service said: “At 4:52 firefighters from Stretford and Eccles fire stations raced to Park Way Stretford, where a bus was alight on an active dual carriageway.

“With support from greater Manchester police at the scene, firefighters were able to put the blaze under control in under the 30-minutes.

“No injuries have been reported.”
