Close call for car fire driver

Householders who spotted that the car outside had just caught light were just in time.

According to the Emergency Service Agency, the "quick response" to a blaze in a vehicle parked in Beattie Crescent in Richardson meant there were no injuries.

Four fire trucks, including a command vehicle, went to the fire on the Tuggeranong street on Thursday afternoon but nobody was seriously injured.

An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesman said the car had only just returned from being cleaned at a car wash before it caught alight. Th owners had gone inside the house when the fire started.

The blaze started in the vehicle just after 4.30pm.

It's not known how the fire started in the car, but it is not believed to be suspicious.

The car's owners had only just returned home and were inside at the time of the fire.

No one was inside the car when the fire started and no injuries were reported.
