Crews attack hot spots at Bodalla, north-west Moruya, Kings Hwy

Ground and air crews are continuing to attack flareups and hot spots throughout the Eurobodalla Shire.

The Princes Highway has traffic control in place from Bumbo Road to Bodalla village as waterbombers continue to mop up from the Thursday January 23 blaze.

Police are escorting a single lane of traffic through to Eurobodalla Road.

Rural Fire Service Inspector Kelwyn White said on the afternoon of Sunday, January 26, another fire was reported north of the Kings Highway, in the Benandarah State Forest. Ground crews had been sent and air support was available if required.

The fire was likely to be an unburned patch within a larger burned area, between Batemans Bay and Nelligen.

Crews were always continuing to control fire in the Larrys Mountain Road area, north-west of Moruya, and surrounds.

Many areas of active fire remain within the shire and everyone is urged to monitor conditions and the Fires Near Me app.
