Crewman dies after entering water at Milford Haven docks

A crewman has died after entering the water at Milford Haven docks in the early hours of Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to reports of a man in the water at Milford Haven docks, in Pembrokeshire , at around 12.15am.

The man was rescued from the water and taken to hospital, where he died.

In a statement, Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Police are working in co-operation with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch, which is deploying to the scene, to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.

"H.M Coroner has been informed."

The coastguard said it received a request from emergency services to assist with an injured crewman at the port of Milford Haven just after midnight on Tuesday.

"Coastguard rescue teams from Dale and Broadhaven were sent to help the Welsh Ambulance Service, Mid and West Fire Service and Dyfed Powys Police," the statement added.

In a statement, the fire service said firefighters from Milford Haven supported the ambulance service and the police at a medical incident in the docks area of Milford Haven last night, adding the fire service left the incident at 1.17am.

A Welsh Ambulance Service’s spokeswoman said: “We were called today (12 November, 2019) at approximately 0.07am to reports of an incident at the Docks, Milford Haven.

"We responded with two emergency ambulances.”
