Crewe Road Gardens fire: Person hospitalised after 'well-developed' blaze at property in Pilton

A person was taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a property in Pilton.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to the scene of a blaze on Crewe Road Gardens at 4.26pm on Saturday and three engines and an aerial appliance attended.

A spokesperson for the SFRS told Edinburgh Live that upon arrival they found a "well-developed" fire on the first floor of a building there.

The road was cordoned off as teams spent two hours battling the blaze before the area was made safe shortly before 6.30pm.

One person was given oxygen therapy at the scene before being rushed off to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance for further treatment.

Edinburgh Live reported yesterday that there was a large number of emergency services personnel in attendance, with eyewitnesses describing teams attempting to access a property there.
