Crew attends Bramcote Woods after reports of 'deliberate fire'

Firefighters responded to a small fire, 'started deliberately' in a wooded area.

One crew from Stapleford Fire Station attended the fire at Bramcote Woods, around 11am on Saturday, August 17.

In a Facebook post, a spokesman said there could be some traffic delays at the entrance to the park, along Ilkeston Road and Coventry Lane.

This was to allow the crew to get their equipment to the scene.

Josh Wood, trainee incident commander who led the incident said: "A small fire had been started deliberately in a wooded area.

"We used a flexible water pack and some beaters to put out the fire.

"Small fires in wooded areas can quickly spread and we are very grateful to the caller who rang us on 999 as soon as she spotted it.

"We’ve made Nottinghamshire Police aware of the incident.”

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service said: "Reports came in for two fires in the open at around 11.11am.

"Crews responded to a small rubbish fire using beaters and a flexi-pack to extinguish the fire.

"It was resolved by 11.44am."
