Crete, Mykonos, Santorini and four other Greek islands removed from NI travel corridor list

The Northern Ireland Executive has announced new quarantine rules for seven Greek islands after a rise in cases.

All holidaymakers arriving from the islands after 4am on Wednesday (September 9) will be required to quarantine for 14 days.

Health Minister Robin Swann says Lesvos, Tinos, Serifos, Crete, Mykonos, Santorini and Zakynthos (Zante) have all been added to Northern Ireland's quarantine list.

The Department of Health reported two further Covid-19 related deaths on Tuesday, with 624 positive cases coming within the last seven days.

Speaking about the changes, Minister Swann said: “We will continue to monitor the situation in all countries and will move swiftly to make changes to the regulations when necessary.

“As we have seen in recent weeks, a quarantine period for people arriving from certain countries can be introduced very quickly so bear this in mind if you are planning any travel. The safety of the citizens of Northern Ireland will always be my priority.”
