The man who was crushed to death as a church dome collapsed during the earthquake in Crete on Monday had just become a grandfather.
Builder Iakovos Tsagarakis, 65, was killed when the structure fell in on him as he worked during the devastating quake.
His son had to be pulled alive from the rubble after watching his dad lose his life just yards away.
The island was hit by a quake of 6.0 magnitude and is said to have felt tremors for over a two-hour period, according to The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
Some people are still missing as locals fear a repeat after around 30 aftershocks.

The dad-of-two was working on the church of the Prophet Elias in Arkalochori when it collapsed.
Tragic Tsagarakis was one of three builders trapped under the rubble.
His son, one of the workers on the site at the time, suffered broken bones but survived after being pulled out by rescuers.
The mayor of Viannos, Minas Stavrakakis, said: "Unfortunately, my dear friend and classmate died tragically this morning in the church of Prophet Elias.

"At the time of the earthquake, he was working with his son in the church when the dome fell.
"His son is in shock because he was with his father. The victim was the father of two children and had recently become a grandfather."
Schools, hotels and other buildings were evacuated when the quake struck off the coast of the island on Monday morning.
A British woman at the centre of it says locals are living in fear of a devastating repeat.
Lucy Semple, who has lived on the Greek island after moving from Glasgow, Scotland, told that there have been more than 30 aftershocks.
The 31-year-old told Glasgow Live about her terrifying experience.
"The earthquake was really scary and the worst I’ve felt in five years living here," she said.
"We have been getting small earthquakes all summer but this one was the worst. It lasted for around 20 seconds and the whole house was shaking.
"All my cupboard doors and balcony doors were rattling and you could hear everything moving. My dog was terrified too.
"Everybody is nervous as aftershocks keep continuing. I know some people in the village who lost their family homes."
