Creme Egg flavoured lager as Cadbury teams up with beer company

A beer company has teamed up with Cadbury to create the ultimate alcoholic Easter treat to celebrate the 50th birthday of the humble Creme Egg.

Goose Island Brewery has concocted up a limited edition lager that is said to taste exactly like the popular gooey treat.

The drink, which has been named ‘It’s the Golden Goo-Beer-Lee’, contains the traditional ingredients of a regular beer - such as malted barley, oats and wheat.

And to give it that Creme Egg kick, they have also added milk sugar, cacao nibs and vanilla beans to give it the taste of the Easter treat.

The beer is said to be best enjoyed inside the chocolate shell of a Creme Egg.

Goose Island master brewer, Andrew said: “The flavours of a stout are already quite complementary to the Creme Egg, but I wanted to make sure when you crack open the beer you knew immediately what the inspiration was and really big up the chocolate and creaminess of the beer, while keeping it super drinkable.”

But fans hoping for it to contain actual pieces of the creamy chocolate delight will be left disappointed.

Scots will be able to get their hands on the usual combination from the Goose Island Beer Company website from tomorrow morning at 11am.

A limited number of the tins will be available in packs of two 440ml cans for £10.

Raphael Capitani, Brand Manager, Cadbury Creme Egg, added: “We’re excited to announce our collaboration with Goose Island and limited-edition Golden Goo-Beer-Lee Creme Stout that is available now for all Cadbury Creme Egg lovers to try.

"We have always celebrated the unique and wonderful ways of enjoying a Cadbury Creme Egg and with this launch we are taking EATertainment to a whole new level.

"We can’t wait for people to try our very first beer and raise a glass to five delicious decades of Cadbury Creme Egg!”
