It was “Plan B” for volunteers at Creetown last week after their community Christmas dinner for local residents was cancelled for the second year in a row.
The big-hearted team had hoped to hold the festive feast in the Waverley Hall but decided to cancel it because of the pandemic.
Not to be outdone, Eddie McGaw, Val Nichol, Evelene McClymont and Jayne Robertson delivered Christmas hampers round the village instead.
Val said: “We try to have the dinner every year and rely on folk donating stuff for it.
“For the hampers we got £100 from the Gem Rock museum and another £100 from a couple in Manchester whose grannie Hilda Allen stayed in the village.
“We did a bonus ball raffle to raise money and we got other donations in as well.”
Among the raffle prizes donated was a barrel bench from local couple Jim and Susan Parker.
A total of £470 was raised from all fundraising – meaning each household each received a hamper worth around £40.
