Creetown Country Ceilidh Festival makes a superb return

The Creetown Country Ceilidh Festival has made a smash hit return after a Covid-enforced gap of three years.

A string of top acts performed to a packed audience in the big marquee at Castle Cary Park, the home of Creetown FC.

The hard-working festival committee really pushed the boat out to make the event extra special.

And all their hard work paid off as hundreds of music lovers descended on the Ferry Toon from Friday evening to Sunday night.

Organising committee chairman Ben Herries said afterwards: “From our point of view the festival could not have gone any better.

“The bands were superb, the crowd was superb and the atmosphere was fantastic.

“We could not have asked for any more support from everybody.

“On behalf of the committee we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the 2022 Creetown Country Ceilidh Festival such a great success.

“The bar staff, the security, the catering, the acts, the fair people, the entertainment, the audiences – everybody who was there played their part.”

Starring on stage were Dominic and Barry Kirwan, Stephen Smyth, Delta Smoak, Alabama Stateline and Pete Kirk.

Rhythm N Riffs, Jim Jam Ceilidh Band, Schiehallion, Texas Gun, Calum MacPhail and Stateline wowed the audience.

Smith’s Family Funfair set up beside the festival marquee while Douglas the Magic Clown also put on a show.

Ben added: “Even on Saturday when it rained from start to finish the marquee was rammed.

“And outside the shows had a good turn on Friday night when the weather was great and again on
Sunday.”

Ben added: “It was a wonderful weekend and the community spirit was second to none.”

The 60-metre festival marquee featured a licensed bar, seating, dance floor and performance stage.

After the committee enjoys a well-earned break planning will begin for the 2023 event.
