A married mum was left “shocked” when a creepy window cleaner sent her sexually explicit text messages.
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, booked Peter Barnard, known as The Glasgow Window Cleaner, to help “freshen up” up her home.
But she ended up being on the receiving end of “extremely disturbing” messages including comments about sex acts with her husband.
Barnard, 46, from Springburn, Glasgow, also asked the woman, if she would be wearing anything sexy when he came to clean her windows.
The woman reported the window cleaner to the police and he was later charged and pleaded guilty in court .
Speaking to the Record, she told how Barnard had initially been very professional but things took a wrong turn after she called him accidentally.
She said: “I didn’t think anything of it because I thought he would get the hint that it was by mistake.
“It (the messaging) became a general persistence after that until later when the text messages turned extremely disturbing.”
In screenshots of the conversation, seen by the Record, the woman tells Barnard she is “happily married” and asks him not to message her.
Barnard went on to say he was sorry but then immediately texted vile suggestions to her including some about sex acts between her and her husband.
He asked her when she last had sex and then “what are you going to wear tomorrow a hot sex outfit I hope fancy it???”.
After midnight he sent one final rambling message where he ended: “Do I want money to wash your windows or do i want your arms around me cuddling me... will I hear from you again, probably not but you know even window cleaners have hearts full of gold.
“I guess you have me down as a creep I understand that I’m after the same as you bed and a cuddle.
“Don’t worry I’m no stalker I say it once.”
The woman told the Record: “I just went into brain-freeze and panicked.
“I was just in a state of shock trying to figure out what happened.
“I felt genuinely frightened and just didn’t understand what had happened to bring this all on.”
She reported the incident to police and sent them screenshots of the messages.
The woman said: “It was the tone that was coming across and of course that this person knows your address and what can happen.
“It was so crazy and escalated so fast.
“I felt really threatened, if you’ve got children you’re fearful - if the wind goes at the window you worry that’s him.
“From someone to go from one extreme from a professional phone call to the next is just unbelievable.
“The attitude is often we don’t contact the police or we just ignore it... and that be the end of it.
“You just don’t know what someone is capable of.
“I’m not trying to damage the person’s business because I agree everyone needs to work.
“But what he needs to address is his criminal behaviour and how much of an impact that could have on someone else.”
At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Barnard pleaded guilty to communicating “indecently” with the women and “repeatedly sending her messages and uttering sexual remarks”. He is due to be sentenced next month.
