Creepy Coronation Street twist as Rana comes 'back from the dead' as Hayley Cropper

Coronation Street fans were shocked during tonight's special episode as Rana Habeeb came 'back from the dead' to talk to Carla Connor.

Rana, played by Bhavna Limbachia, tragically died in March when the Underworld factory roof collapsed on top of the bride-to-be.

Tonight she returned in a heartbreaking episode of the ITV soap following a fragile Carla Connor as she suffered a severe psychotic episode.

Factory boss Carla followed a person she believed to be her good friend Hayley Cropper, who took her own life in 2014, when she saw Hayley's trademark red anorak.

As she followed the mysterious figure in the red hood up the Victoria Street fire escape, 'Hayley' turned out to be tragic Rana.

The reveal was a shocking moment for viewers as well as Carla, who viewers could see was actually speaking to an empty space.

And there was further upset for the distraught factory boss when she thought her partner Peter Barlow was her late half brother Aidan Connor.

Carla with Rana (Coronation Steret/ITV)

Popular Corrie character Carla suffered a mental breakdown after the collapse of her beloved factory was sabotaged, bringing down the roof.

The catastrophe killed Rana, who had returned to the building on her wedding day to retrieve her bag, and trapped some of the Underworld employees.

Racked with guilt, Carla fell seriously ill and went on the run as the finger of blame was pointed at her for the tragedy.

She eventually returned to the street after hearing how much her loved-ones missed her, and turned up in her good friend Roy's flat.

Carla has been cared for by ex husband Peter, but hasn't been taking her medication.
