'Creepy' Channel 4 bus ad leaves social media seriously annoyed

Social media users have hit-out at a 'creepy' bus advertisement for Channel 4's Naked Attraction.

The advert, which has been plastered onto the side of buses, has led to concerns passengers may find themselves the "butt of the joke" as they go about their lives.

One post, which was shared on Twitter, has now been liked 1,000 times with a further 3,900 retweets.

It blasts the advert which has three arrows, one saying "loves Naked Attraction", another saying "hates Naked Attraction" and the third saying "loves being naked".

Author Tracy King said: "What the hell is this creepy bus ad? You can’t just label non-consenting passengers like that. Does Channel4 not know how many sexual assaults take place on buses?

"My background is marketing. In general you have to be very careful with adverts that include the public without their consent, and that goes double for public transport.

"Passengers shouldn’t have to navigate ‘am I the butt of a joke on my way to work today’."

Concerns have been raised about the "sexualising" of passengers and the lack of consent.

Replying to the original tweet, one social media user said: "It's not just in London. I saw it in Edinburgh on Saturday. Was shocked they thought this was acceptable."

Another added: "I saw one of these buses yesterday and was disgusted at it. Glad someone else is calling it out too."

A third replied: "I saw this on a bus in Stockport. Massively inappropriate."

Lothian Buses, who services in and around Edinburgh responded to the criticisms on social media, they said: "External advertising on our vehicles is managed by our partners, Global - we have passed your comments on for their attention."
