James Corden and Rebel Wilson turned heads at this year’s Oscars ceremony when they presented an award in their Catscostumes.
Presenting the award for Best Visual Effects, Corden and Wilson emerged on stage and started batting the microphone stand.
Both the actors had recently featured in Cats, the critically panned film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s musical.
“As cast members of the movie Cats, nobody more than us understands the need for good visual effects...” they said, in a dig at the film’s much-derided CGI.
As was the case with the Cats film itself, many people were unsettled by the humanoid cat costumes.
Here are some of the reactions from Twitter.
For the second year running, the Oscars had no presenter. Nominations-wise, Joker led this year’s pack with 11, while The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood followed close behind with 10.
