'Created more division' - Everton fans divided following Lucas Digne's transfer to Aston Villa

Everton supporters have been reacting online following Lucas Digne’s exit to Aston Villa.

The Midlands club confirmed the signing of Digne on Thursday morning in a deal that the ECHO understands will cost them £25m.

Digne quickly became a fan-favourite at Goodison Park, replacing the ever-present Leighton Baines at left-back, following his £18m move from Barcelona in the summer of 2018.

However, the Frenchman now leaves the club having scored six goals across 127 appearances in all competitions for the Blues , as well as claiming 20 assists in that time.

Digne is Villa’s second signing of the January transfer window after they secured the services of Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona earlier this week.

And below is how Everton fans have been reacting to Digne’s departure from the club.

Speaking on his move to Villa, Digne said: “I’m really happy to be here. It’s a big project after the signing of Philippe and the club spending a lot of money last summer.

“The project is really interesting. You can see from last summer that the project is in a good way, and I think all the players want to be here to be part of this project.

“I will try to bring myself. I’m a winner and I want to win every time and show my quality.”
