Bodycam captures moment crazed knifeman took teenager hostage with 10-inch blade

A crazed knifeman who took a terrified teenager hostage with a 10-inch blade has been jailed.

Footage caught on a police officer's body-worn camera shows the shocking moment Nabil Errouam went on his rampage.

A terrified 17-year-old girl can be heard screaming "help me" as Errouam, 35, held what a judge described as a 'fearsome' knife to her neck in a Southampton park.

Errouam, who was in a state of "psychosis" fuelled by a cocktail of strong cannabis and alcohol, then ran from police and stabbed a partially-sighted man walking with his guide dog.

He then found a second teenage girl, and held her at knifepoint.

Errouam, of Oxford Avenue, Southampton, was jailed for six years on Friday, after admitting counts of kidnap, affray, wounding, possessing a knife in a public place, and threatening a person with a knife.

The shocking footage of the attack has now been released by police as knife crime continues to plague the UK.

More than a dozen terrified members of the public called 999 around 4.20pm on December 13 last year.

Some tried to fight Errouam off with sticks as he went on a crazed rampage on Southampton Common, in the centre of the south coast city.

Body-worn camera footage shows officers shouting instructions to drop the knife, after he stabbed the 17-year-old 13 times in her legs and buttocks.

Police can be seen firing a taser at Errouam, although it did not penetrate his clothing.

He can then be seen fleeing through the park as officers chase.

After attacking the 50-year-old visually-impaired man and an 18-year-old girl, Errouam was tasered again and brought down.

Southampton Crown Court heard that the knifeman indicated that he wanted to be killed - screaming "shoot me" - as he was chased through the park.

Prosecutor Matthew Lawson said Errouam's first victim, 17, has been left "absolutely terrified" by the attack.

He said: "She thought she was going to die. She said that he kept trying to pull her towards the woods and she thought he was going to kill her in there."

The partially-sighted man said in a statement he was "shocked by the randomness of the attack", while the second girl was "extremely shocked".

Detective Inspector Colin White of Hampshire Constabulary, said: "This was a frightening experience for the three victims and it was fortunate that they were not seriously hurt.

"I am grateful to the members of the public who witnessed this incident and supported our investigation. I would also like to thank the officers who attended the scene that night and detained Errouam."
